Welcome to Barnesville Elementary School

Barnesville Elementary serves students in grades K-6, with a current enrollment of 493 students.  As a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) school, we take a proactive approach to behavior by providing support through school-wide systems and individualized plans. We are committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment for every student.

Our instructional program is arranged in a style to meet the needs of all students. We place a high value on student data and use it daily to drive our decisions in the area of student growth. We place a significant emphasis on technology as we are a one-to- one iPad School. You will find that in Barnesville, technology is not an extra, it is a tool in our educational process. We also offer music and physical education five days a week for students in grades 1-6.

In 2015, Atkinson Elementary was named a Rewards School in the state of Minnesota. This means we were one of the highest achieving schools with enrollments similar to ours. We have set a high standard for academic excellence, and we work hard to meet or surpass this expectation. This cannot be accomplished without the efforts of a highly qualified and caring staff. We are very proud of our team that has been assembled.
